Unlock a Confident Birth Journey: A Story of Empowerment and Preparation

Navigating the journey to motherhood is a profound and transformative experience. When I learned I was going to be a mother, excitement was mixed with the weighty responsibility of preparing for such a life-changing event. Working in labor and delivery, I was surrounded by supportive professionals. Little did I know the challenges ahead would require not just medical expertise but a deep personal understanding and adaptability.

Unexpected Challenges:

Early in my pregnancy, joy quickly turned to concern as I was unexpectedly frequenting the ER due to severe nausea and fainting spells, leading to an alarming loss of weight and missed work commitments. The medical professionals initially dismissed these symptoms, leaving me disheartened until a vital thyroid test altered the course, bringing much-needed treatment and relief.

Despite improvements, this experience shifted my perspective on conventional care. At 12 weeks, my path took a spirited turn with the decision to prepare for a home birth, led by a compassionate midwife who sincerely acknowledged my concerns and preferences.

The Role of Comprehensive Education:

I embarked on a deep dive into childbirth education, determined to be fully prepared. However, life had more surprises—a car accident at 29 weeks triggered fears of preterm labor, forcing a change of plans and transition to home midwife and hospital midwife co-care. Even while on strict bed rest, the wealth of knowledge I had gained was my pillar of strength.

Labor came with another unforeseen event—a cesarean was necessary due to my baby’s position at 39 weeks. Despite this, I felt empowered, not because everything went according to plan, but because I was educated and prepared for any possibility.

Alex

Alex (he/him) is a first generation immigrant from Kazakhstan with Russian heritage. He is an Aries. He moved here by himself with a single suitcase and $900 in hand in 2019 with the American Dream in mind. Since coming here, he has gone back to school and finished trade school to become a Journeyman Electrician. Through working full time as an electrician, he has funded the start up of our business Wild Womb. During this timeframe, he met Kyli and they got married in 2020 and decided to start a family in 2022. In his spare time, he loves to take his daughter Mila hunting and fishing, or he is working on house projects or renovating cars. He is constantly busy and finds working with his hands relaxing.

Mila

Mila was born in May 2023 and she is a Taurus. She is lively and loves to climb and play outside. She has four sisters. Two are husky mixes and two are pitbulls. She is expecting a new human brother in January. She also has rabbit and chicken babies that she helps her parents take care of. Her best friend is her giant stuffed chicken that she takes with her everywhere. Her favorite food is spaghetti and her favorite drink is milk. She speaks more Russian than English words but her favorite form of communicating is through her squeals of delight.

Kyli

My name is Kyli (she/ her) and I was born and raised in Utah. I’m a Pisces! I jumped straight into work as a teenager and had all kinds of jobs from barista, phlebotomist, to EMT Firefighter, and then went back to working in the hospital as a labor and delivery surgical and labor technician. I started Wild Womb in 2022 as a doula service but shortly after learned we were expecting Mila. My pregnancy was hard and I quickly realized I did not have the energy to be on call as a doula. After giving birth to Mila, I decided to stay at home and start working on turning Wild Womb into a childbirth education platform. In my spare time, I love hiking, paddle boarding, reading, and spending time with my human family and animal babies.
